Buona Festa della Donna a tutti! Happy Woman’s day. 8th of March is a big day in Italy. We celebrate it every where with many events and the men in our lives (dads, brothers, boyfriends and husbands) show their appreciation with a nice bunch of Mimosa flower. Italian children prepare nice cards to hand to their mothers, grandmothers and sisters. I remember doing something like this!!
So when you think about Italy in March you should imagine a sea of yellow and the gorgeous scent of Mimosa flowers. It’s the symbol of the International Women’s day in Italy.
Of course just like any other celebration in Italy, we sit down and have a lovely meal together (any excuse to celebrate with food and wine!):
But for Italian women the 8th March is a day to celebrate the freedom and possibilities we have and to give thanks to those women who fought hard and to appreciate that not everybody is as fortunate as us.
Grazie mille!
