Ciao a tutti, another Italian expression for you to learn:
Fare orecchie da mercante
it roughly translates into English as “To turn a blind eye” or To pretend not to understand, to pretend not to hear something you don’t want to hear.
Why oh why Italian merchants have developed selective hearing over the centuries and we mock them with this saying .. I’ll never know… Enjoy it though!
If you go to Italy and use it in conversation, people will be so impressed!
