Learn Italian Manchester – English words of Italian Origin

Ciao a tutti,

Did you know that there are loads of English words we all use that are of Italian Origin?

For example:

al fresco from al and fresco, =”fresh, cool”, hence =”in a cool place”.

How many times have you texted a friend or your partner and said: Dinner al fresco at your favourite restaurant in Didsbury or Chorlton?

I’ll let you into a little secret. Yes In Italian al fresco means sitting outside in the fresh air preferably with the sun shining but it is also a slang term for being in jail. If you join me at one of my Italian classes, as your yeacher I’d take the time to explain all the little differences between the two languages. This is something that a large language school simply hasn’t got the time to do.
